We have a new edition just in time for Xmas! Astra has just joined us from Moscow where she has been awaiting her PETS passport for many months. She is settling in well and is a sweet and loving girl.

All 4 of Astra's grandparents are foundation certified Siberians. She will provide a total outcross bloodline for us here at Snowgum.

Many thanks to her breeder Zhanna for entrusting us with this lovely girl!

Recovering well

I had a ligament reconstruction and clean out of my ankle a week and a half ago and have been lying on the sofa recovering since. I can definitely say that recovery has been made more enjoyable by having our new addition "Musrafy Trotskiy" around! He is settling in well and is an absolute joy. He's such a happy, friendly, cheeky chap!

He had his full physical, microchip and rabies vax yesterday in preparation for our move to Australia next year. The rules have changed recently so we now need to do rabies vax plus 6 month wait before they can come home with us in Sydney (one month of that is spent in a quarantine facility in Sydney) Such a pain :-( So all of our cats have had their jabs now and most have had their rabies blood tests.

I must say a huge thank you to Nanna for travelling all the way from Australia to look after my baby boy Ethan while I am on crutches! What would we do without family?

We are very pleased to be able to announce an unexpected edition to Snowgum! Please join us in welcoming Trotskiy, a gorgeous golden shaded tabby Siberian who we hope to show from early next year. He has fantastic boning, beautiful green eyes, gorgeous lynx tips and a wonderful sweet temperament. A big thank you to his breeder for letting this handsome guy join us.

Another great show

Meadow had yet another great show at Newbury last weekend. She came away with another 9 finals:
3 Best Cats, 3 2nds and 3 3rds! Well done Meadow!

Snowgum Spirit & Ninja were there with their human slaves Darren and Erica and they too did us proud! Spirit came away with his Quadruple Grand Champion Alter title and Ninja with a BoB. Wow! Well done handsome guys!

A big congrats to the other Sibis there too- esp to Akiro for his SGCA title and Yana for her many Best Kitten wins!

Meadow did brilliantly at the previous show too. We only went one day and she came away with 7 finals including 2 Best Cats and 2 2nds!

Meadow Supremes at Swanley!

Meadow had another brilliant weekend at the TICA show in Swanley last weekend. She started the show with a Best Cat from Pascal on Saturday morning and then continued to her success right till close on Sunday evening. She came away with 6 Best Cats! Plus 6 further finals, most in the top 5!

So we are very pleased to announce that our Meadow is now a TICA Supreme Grand Champion!!! There are only a small number of female Siberians to ever achieve this title (she is just the 3rd in the UK!) and Meadow would have to be one of the youngest to do it at just 12 months of age! Wow! Well done Meadow, we are so proud of you!!!!

A big congrats to Darren and Erica on Spirit's continuing success on the weekend too!

Show success at Bracknell!

We attended a TICA show at Bracknell on the weekend with our new star Meadow (Tavolga Sibaris). She did brilliantly again and was Best of Breed in 10 out of the 12 rings despite the very tough competition. It was a really high cat count of 60 but she still managed to end up with 7 finals over the course of the weekend, one of which was Best Cat! The others were three 2nds, a 3rd, 5th and 9th! By the end of the day on Saturday she was already Triple Grand Champion! This was just her second show so really a brilliant result for such a yound female Sibi.

On the Sunday Meadow and I hitched a ride with Darren and Erica who are owned by 3 of our lovely Snowgum Siberians and 1 gorgeous Alexandrite Siberian. Their boys Snowgum Spirit and Snowgum Ninja did us proud and Spirit ended up with three finals - 6th AB, 9th AB and a Best Alter!!! The cat cout was really high (43) so this really is a great achievement! Well done Spirit and a huge congrats to Darren and Erica!

I have to say a huge thank you to Darren for driving us on the Sunday and to my darling husband David and gorgeous baby boy Ethan for coming with us on Saturday and being so patient! Without you three boys all of this success would not have been possible.

DGC Tavolga Sibaris of Snowgum (Meadow)

Tavolga finally arrived in the UK last week and has already been to a show here and wowed all the judges! We took her to the TICA show at Altringham and despite the tough competition she was best of breed in every ring both days and took 9 out of the 10 possible finals! In two finals she was Best Cat and she was 2nd best in another two! It was really an amazing result for such a young female Siberian so we are incredibly proud of her. She made enough points and more than enough finals to come away from the weekend as a Double Grand Champion! Wow! We certainly weren't expecting that from her first show as an adult!

It is lovely to finally have her at home with us and she is settling in really well. She is a very sweet girl and very gentle. She loves playing fetch and likes waking me up at 4 am by dropping the ball on me asking to play! I think she must still be jetlagged and not know the time ;-)

"Tavolga" is the name of a wild flower which is called "Meadow Sweet" in English. We have decided to call her Meadow since she doesn't respond to "Tavolga" when I call her- I guess my Australian accent confuses her!

We attended a FIFe show on the weekend to catch up with our friends Darren and Erica and 3 of their 4 beautiful Siberians. We took along CH Delta for the ride - she was awarded her first CACIB and the judge had lots of lovely things to say about her.

QGCA Snowgum Maisie from our very first litter came out of her show retirement to try out the FIFe format and she did brilliantly being awarded her first CAP and BIV! Wow! Go girl!

Brothers Snowgum Ninja and DGCA Snowgum Spirit competed against each other and Spirit came out ahead with EX1 & CAP and he was nominated for the Best in Show Final! Wow! Congrats Spirit! He did look very handsome indeed so we were pleased that the judge thought so too! Unfortunately he was pipped in the final 2 votes to 1 by an enourmous Maine Coon. Better luck next time handsome guy xx

We just received a nice surprise in the post for our beautiful silver with white girl CH Indiana. She is TICA's "Second Best Black Silver Classic Tabby /White Siberian of the Year" for 2011! This was totally unexpected as we have only showed her a couple of times! Well done Indiana, you certainly are a beautiful girl!

Last weekend we took a quick trip to Moscow to see the sights and meet our new girl Tavolga Sibaris and her wonderful breeders Arina and Alex.

Arina very kindly entered Tavolga into the FIFe Filidae Club's Forest show on the Saturday and stayed up until 2am on the Friday night after taking us sight seeing, to ensure Tavolga and her mum Elan were ready for the show.

It was really exciting to attend the show which was quite different to those in the UK. The hall was huge and was shared by a TICA show being held simultaneously with some cats entered into both shows! The layout was lovely and very social with the exhibitors inside circles of pens so that visitors could easily walk by and see all the cats while the exhibitors could easily talk and relax together.

I was amazed to see so many Siberians in attendance. There were cats from Rossity, Nevas Legend, Onix Gloria, Manchzhury, Volgskaya Krasa and Angelur to name just a few! It was really lovely to actually meet some of these famous breeders as I have spent many hours pawing over their websites over the last few years!

We were so excited to finally meet our girl Tavolga as we have been following her development since her first photos at one week of age and she is now 9 months old. She is really a fabulous girl and we couldn't be happier with her looks and her sweet temperament too. Judge Mrs Sirpa Lindelof seemed to like her and gave her an excellent write up. I didn't expect her to do brilliantly as she is currently a teenager and, as it was a Forest Show, there was a lot of competition with tonnes of Maine Coons in attendance as well as the good number of Siberians.

Tavloga however surprised us and was awarded Best in Variety and was then Nominated for Best In Show! I couldn't have been happier at that point but the day just kept on getting better! She wowed all of the judges and went on to be awarded Best In Show (category 2 kitten), then overall Best in Category 2 before being announced as Best of Best 1! I.e. best cat in the whole show! Amazing! Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined such an amazing result when we were planning the trip to the Moscow just a few weeks prior!

Arina and Alex also had a second win to celebrate- Tavolga's beautiful mum Elan Sibaris won BIS too and as this was her 15th BIS win this awarded her the title Distinguished Show Merit (DSM). Wow! What an incredible achievement!

So I must say a HUGE thank you to Arina and Alex for your warm welcome to your country, for taking us to see the beautiful St. Serguis Monastry, for driving us around in the crazy Moscow traffic, for all your preparations for the show and of course for allowing us to adopt the gorgeous Tavolga! We can't wait to have her home here with us!

Sebastian 10 months

We often have scammers stealing our photos to advertise their non-existant kittens. They use these on websites where we are able to contact the host and have the ads taken down. This morning I was told about a complete fake website based totally on ours with a few names changed here and there. I am sick to my stomach and am so angry about this. It will be impossible to remove without a huge legal battle and even then it is unlikely that we could have it removed as it is owned by a scammer based in South Korea.

Introducing Ethan

Well you saw the scan about 6 months ago so I thought it was about time to introduce the boy! Ethan Aleksander Winters arrived almost 2 weeks late at 4:45pm on the 16th December 2010. It was a relatively short labour of 7 hrs and he was born naturally at ULCH London during a snow storm. In keeping with our Snowgum Siberian births, he has good size (58cm), heft (8lb 6oz) and was born with a full head of thick hair ;-)

He has been keeping us very busy these past two months but we are loving every moment with him :-)

Introducing Tavolga Sibaris

While we are waiting for our first non-fur baby to arrive (due yesterday!) I thought I'd take the chance to introduce our new girl Tavolga Sibaris. Tavolga is daughter of the beautiful GIC Elan Sibaris and the very handsome Nevas Legend Ignat. She is a chunky girl with a fab pedigree and we look forward to welcoming her to the UK next year after she recieves her PETS passport.

Though we are currently taking a short break from breeding, we have recently confirmed two wonderful additions to our program. The first, Sebastian Sibaris, will be joining us from Sibaris in Moscow. He will be a stud at Snowgum when we move back to Australia. He has a wonderful pedigree and we love his look. We hope you will too!

We now have one slighlty older golden male Siberian kitten available. We were keeping him for our breeding program and have been showing him, but we have decided to instead import another male to expand the bloodlines that we are taking home to Australia next year.

Snowgum Spirit has a wonderful friendly temperament and is a very handsome boy. He is coming up to 6 months of age soon but is still very much a kitten - he loves to run and play and cuddle. He has a big purr and is very social. He would prefer a home with other pets- other cats or maybe a dog, or one where there will be someone home all day.

Spirit's father is our very own RW SGC Snowgum Titan and his mum is CH Delta Diva Siberia.

Spirit is vaccinated, wormed and microchipped and ready to go to his new home straight away. Like all our kittens, he will leave home with a detailed care guide and diet sheet, samples of his favourite foods, a sample of the litter he is using, his official vaccination certificate, a copy of his pedigree and 4 weeks free Petplan insurance. He has been vet checked and is healthy and well socialised. He is registered with TICA and has been successfully showed in FIFe and TICA- he was twice Nominated for Best in Show and made two TICA finals.

Introducing Tundra...

No we haven't adopted another cat, Tundra is Snowgum Titan's stage name in his issue of "The Cat Collection" Magazine! You may remember that Titan did a photoshoot in November last year, well the magazine is now out and to my surprise, the whole issue is filled with photos of our boy! They have given him the name "Tundra the Siberian" (not a bad name actually, maybe I'll use that for one of his future kittens ;-) and changed his age to 3 years instead of the 1.5 years he was at the time of the shoot! But we are thrilled with the result. The best bit is the furry toy that they have created to look like him! It even has the Siberian signature furry ear brushes sticking out of its ears! So cute!

Last weekend we took Delta and her son Spirit to the Garden of England FIFe cat show in Worthing. We had a great time and both of them made us very proud!

Delta was awarded the final two CAC certificates she needed, so after I get all the paperwork done she will now be "Champion Delta Diva Siberia"! She was also nominated for the best in show final on Sunday! Well done Delta!

Spirit was very well recieved by the judges and by the visiting general public too. We were amazed that he showed no signs of nerves despite it being his first show! Spirit was awarded Ex1 both days, BIV on Sunday and was nominated both days for the best in show final! Unfortunately he lost out both days two votes to one to a beautiful silver and white Norwegian kitten. Still, he got some wonderful comments from the judges and we were very proud of the little man to make it that far. Way to go Spirit!

A new family member

For those of you who don't yet know, the reason we are taking a break from breeding for a while is to welcome a new family member. Our first fur-free baby is due in December! I am definitely showing now and can often feel the baby kick inside. We are very excited and can't wait to meet the little one! Here is a pic taken at a scan a couple of weeks ago:

Delta's bubs are growing well. They are 4 weeks old now and are out of the box and exporing, much to Delta's horror! She is quite nervous when they are out and about and she talks to them alot, pleading for them all to return to the safety of the box ;-) She is a great mum though and the babies all seem to have adopted her sweet, loving temperament :-)

Our friends Darren and Erica just returned from an awesome shopping trip to Japan. They are both really into fashion and love the originality of the designers there as well as the unique culture. Very kindly they brought back a lovely gift for us! So I've taken some pictures of Titan-san in his new and very stylish kimono! Thanks Darren and Erica! Titan is still a little bit unsure about it but I think it is fabulous!

Last night Delta safely delivered her first litter which will be our last litter while living in the UK. She did a great job and is proving to be a wonderful mum :-) The litter is a wonderful range of colours. We think she has:

All the babies are good weights and Delta is happy and well :-)

Time is really flying by. Frostie's kittens are six weeks old already and growing cuter by the day! They are all love climbing and playing now and are all eating well and using the litter tray (they have even figured out the big tray with the flap! Clever kitties!)

This is Comet. A very friendly big boy with a lovely pale silver coat and well defined stripes. He has the cutest toe pads- they are all black except one that is bright pink!

This is Eclipse, a black smoke boy with a little white chest and a white spot on his tummt! Eclipse is the friendliest of the litter. He is first out to meet me every time and rolls over for a tummy rub. Such a sweetheart!

This is Sputnik, a very handsome silver mackerel tabby boy. He is slightly darker silver than the others and looks quite a lot like Calix from Frostie's previous litter :-)

And our only girl of the litter, Aurora. She is a very pretty silver mackerel tabby girl. She is the explorer of the litter- first out of the box and always into everything!

Frosties kittens 4 weeks

Frostie's bubs are 4 weeks old now! They are now easily able to jump out of the kittening box to run round the room and play with their toys. They are also all enjoying eating now and tuck into their meals with great gusto!

I haven't got names for them yet but I'm working on it!

Frostie's babies are 3 weeks old now. They are all enjoying walking around inside the birthing box and they look up and stumble to the front to see me whenever I am in the room. They all have lovely coats and great markings :-) Here are some pics from a few days ago.

Indy's kittens 7.5 weeks

Frostie's last litter

Frostie's babies are almost two weeks old now. I have been so busy with them and Indy's little rascals that I haven't even posted any pics yet! So here are some taken last weekend when their eyes were still closed. They are all open now and looking very cute. She has two silver mackerel boys, one silver mackerel girl and a black smoke boy! The smoke boy was a lovely surprised as we were expecting all silver mackerels! He is very cute and even his whiskers are black! As this is Frostie's last litter we will be keeping one of the kittens for breeding. We are not sure which one yet so we won't be allocating kittens for a few weeks yet so that we can make our decision.

We have had an incredibly busy weekend and haven't had time to take any new pictures of the babies so we took some quick videos of them playing instead. They give you an idea of just how active they are - they all race around like mad things for ages and then fall fast asleep in a big pile until they are ready to get up and go again. They are incredibly cute at this age and we love having them around :-)

The first video has Flash and Chief chasing the toy and the second video has all of them in there at some point.

Flash and Astro have now found their new homes. Big chunky Chief may be going to a breeding home where we hope they will love his look as much as we do :-) We are holding Xena back for a while as she is looking very promising so we are trying to decide whether we should keep her for breeding or possibly let her go to a breeding home. She is a big girl and incredibly pretty too. If you are a breeder and are interesting in having Xena joining your breeding program feel free to inquire. And Frostie had her babies today :-) She has a lovely litter of 3 silver mackerel tabbies and one black smoke! We weren't expecting the smoke so he was a lovely surprise. We were however expecting more babies as Frostie was huge prior to giving birth! It seems she is still quite large after the birth too and may have to diet a bit when the kittens are gone! But she is doing really well and really loves her babies so we are very proud of her. I'll post some pictures when I have a moment.

The kittens are 4.5 weeks old now and are enjoying getting up to all sorts of mischief! They are now playing with toys, wrestling each other and climbing on their cat tree. They have also started eating some food and and are using the litter tray perfectly :-) Indiana is a very clean mum and sets a great example for them. We haven't even had any accidents so far :-)

Well time flies when you have kittens around. I can't believe they are 3.5 weeks old already! We had our first escape from the kittening box today- Xena was up and over the front and then out exploring the nursery. Poor Indiana really wasn't happy about the situation!

Delta has finally arrived!

After a huge 10 month wait our beautiful golden classic girl Delta Diva Siberia has finally arrived! For those of you who have not had to go through this agonizing waiting game, it is because the UK is rabies free and have strict quarantine rules to keep it that way. To import a pet here, they either have to sit in quarantine for 6 months or they get vaccinated for rabies, then 30 days later they have a titre test to check antibody levels. After a sucessful titre test the pet must then wait a further 6 months before they can enter the UK. So the earliest that a kitten from Europe or the US can arrive in the UK is at 10 months of age as they can't be vaccinated for rabies until 3 months of age. It is a very long wait, especially when you have been following the kitten's progress since just after birth!

We have to say a huge thank you to Izabela Jarosz of Diva Siberia who bred and expertly raised Delta for us. Izabela kept Delta for the 10 months required to get her passport and did all the extra vet visits, paperwork and rushing around in order to ship her to us safely. We can't thank her enough for doing all this for us. It was touch and go in the last few days as to whether she would arrive on time- the crate I bought was deemed just a bit too small by the airline so Izabela had to get express delivery of a bigger one. She found just one company who could get it to her in time but then the delivery van driver had an accident on the way! Luckily nobody was injured, the crate was not damaged and they were able to deliver it later that evening.

So Delta finally arrived at Heathrow last night. We were very stressed but when we finally got her she didn't look the slightest bit bothered by the whole experience! She took it all in her stride! The lady at the Animal Reception Centre thought she was lovely and couldn't believe how calm she was.

Delta is at home with us now and relaxing next to me on our bed as I type this. She is an incredibly friendly, loving and gentle girl even after all the upheaval she has just been through. She was even wonderful when our vet visited her today for her checkup/blood tests. This is a testament to how well Izabela raises and socialises her kittens. Thank you Izabela!

The kittens are doing really well and actually starting to look like kittens now! They always look so funny in the first couple of weeks. In the last post I forgot to mention how we picked their names- they are superheroes/comic book characters :-)

My friend adopted two gorgeous Ragdoll brothers around the same time that we adopted our first Siberian Georgia. Vinnie and Pabs love to hang out and play together. Here are some pictures of these clever boys during one of their favourite games...

Indy's babies are two weeks old now and all have their beautiful eyes open. They are starting to learn to walk, groom themselves and wrestle! It's so funny watching them wobbling about at this age. They really are adorable :-)

After a very long night, Indiana's first babies arrived this morning. She had 3 boys and one girl. The girl and two of the boys are silver classic tabby Siberians and the other boy is a brown mackerel tabby Siberian with cute white socks, muzzle, bib and stripe on his forehead! Mum and babies all doing well! I am however worn out and will be off to bed shortly :-)

Titan the male model!

Towards the end of last year Titan was a model in a photoshoot for a new series of cat magazines called "The Cat Collection"! It's a new monthly magazine collection that will feature a different breed each month. It it is due to come out in the UK shortly and the Siberian Cat will be feautured in the latter part of the year.

Titan only had his summer coat at the time but we still think he looked handsome. He was a real show-off for the entire shoot, really enjoying being the centre of everyone's attention :-) He had a great time and was pretty good at posing so the photographer got all of his shots done in record time!

Delta's first show!

In November our youngest girl Delta Diva Siberia attended her first show with her breeder in Poland. She did really well with hardly any nerves and was awarded Ex1 on the Saturday and Ex2 (she lost out to her brother!) on Sunday. The judge commented that she has very nice texture of coat and beautiful eyes and all in all she is quite a promising girl :-) We think she is lovely too and can't wait to meet her in early March when she gets her PETS passport and can finally travel to the UK!

I hope you are all enjoying the festive season! We have the Christmas tree up now and the cats are enjoying pulling off the decorations and stalking around under the tree as if they were in a forest somewhere- very cute!

Many of you will remember this pic from our website last year but Frostie looked so cute in her Xmas outfit that I couldn't resist posting it again this year. She is our "Santa Claws" ;-) And before you ask, yes she is actually wearing the coat and hat! I'm not that good with Photoshop!!!

We recently recieved some pics of Frostie and Titan's boys in their new homes! The boys have all settled in really well and have grown so much in the short time they have been gone. Their new owners are loving having them around and you can see by the pics that the boys are having a great time too :-) It's lovely to see pics of our babies doing so well so thank you to Joy and Jen for looking after them so well and also for sending the pics though. Indiana arrives!

After a 10 month wait our new girl Indiana has finally arrived! We combined our holiday with her collection taking a 2.5 week road trip through Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland with the final destination of Venice Italy to collect her. The holiday was fantastic, we saw so many amazing places and stayed in some gorgeous Chateaux through France. There was a lot of driving but the gorgeous colours in the autumn leaves made it a spectacular drive. Apologies to those who emailed while we were away- we had very limited email access on the trip.

It seems the long wait was worth it- Indy is a gorgeous girl and very sweet natured. It was wonderful to meet Indy's breeder Melissa, her parents Darcy and Babylas as well as Melissa's other gorgeous Sibis.

The trip back was surprisingly easy with the PETS passport making the Channel Tunnel crossing very quick and hassle free. We have to say a big thank you to Melissa for organising all of Indy's paperwork and keeping her for us while she waited for her passport!

Supreme Grand Champion Snowgum Titan!

Titan had a fantastic day at the TICA Bengal Cat Club show on Saturday and made us incredibly proud by winning Best Cat in Monika Dany's ring! This now makes him a Supreme Grand Champion!!!! A fantastic achievement for our young man from our very first litter! It was a very nerve wracking win as they kept me in suspense before announcing which of the last two of the 10 finalists was going to be awarded Best Cat! Titan has had a lot of second and third places lately so it's wonderful that he has now achieved first place as an adult. He really did brilliantly as a kitten winning Best Kitten 10 times in just a handful of shows, so it's fantastic to see he's still got it now he's more grown up :-) He doesn't even have much of a coat yet as it's been warm in London so maybe we'll take him out one more time when his winter coat comes in. But for now he's going to enjoy a well deserved rest from the show circuit :-) Well done Mr T! You are a very handsome guy and we're very proud of you!!!

All is quiet

Our three gorgeous boys have all left for their new homes and it is now very quiet here! After weeks and weeks of constant cleaning, feeding and playing I'm now left wondering what to do with all my spare time!!!

It was very sad to see the little guys go and I already miss seeing their cute little faces and hearing their purrs. I really hope their new owners will enjoy having them around as much as we have.

If you saw Joanna Lumley's Catwoman show on ITV last Sunday night then you will have seen our boy Mr T! Joanna did some of the fliming for her show at one of the TICA shows earlier this year and Mr T was there strutting his stuff. Joanna spent some time sitting with us and patting Titan and then they took some footage of me brushing him prior to him being judged. We weren't sure if he'd make the final cut and we were very excited when we saw the footage on telly the other night! It's only a few seconds, blink and you'll miss it, but he's still there and he looked very handsome :-) If you missed the show you can still watch it on their website:

The boys were very brave when they had their first vaccinations on Friday. They did really well and were a bit sleepy for the rest of the day but had totally recovered by the next morning and were back to normal, playing like crazy:-) They had a full health check with the vet which they passed with flying colours. She was really pleased with them and very impressed by their large size, especially their big paws :-)

I figured it was about time for some new pictures but the boys are so fast and full of mischief now and they rarely want to pose for the camera! They have decided upon a new favourite place for a kip- on the bottom shelf of the bookcase in the hallway. So I took the opportunity when they were napping there this afternoon, to take some new pics of the boys who are now 8 weeks old. I will try to get some better shots next week before their first vaccinations on Friday.

The boys are 6 weeks old now and all over 1kg. They are full of life and energy! Cosmo has decided that it is fun to climb up my leg like a cheeky monkey (ouch!), Calix thinks toes are the best toys to bite and Chester is just an all round crazy man running and jumping and diving all over the place! Very cute indeed.

They are all using the litterbox and eating real food now, though they still like to cuddle up with Frostie for a drink every now and then.
